Empowering Women in Cybersecurity: Celebrating a Year of Support from Gen
In today’s digital age, cybersecurity plays a vital role in protecting individuals and organisations from online threats. The field of cybersecurity has historically been dominated by men, creating a gender imbalance that hampers diversity and innovation. We at the Women4Cyber Foundation are fortunate to have a steadfast ally in Gen™, a global company powering Digital Freedom through its consumer brands, including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner. Gen supports us in fostering inclusivity and empowering women in cybersecurity, fuelling our activities and initiatives aimed at bridging the gender gap.
We are pleased to celebrate a year of impact from our partnership. Gen’s initial financial support and collaboration enabled us to launch the Women4Cyber Academy, which now lists over 30 courses in its directory and where we continue to add discounts for trainings with selected providers. We also organised four rounds of mentorship programmes, impacting 400 women; held 5 webinars to raise awareness, and have seen the opening of 9 new W4C chapters across Europe working to help us provide opportunities for women interested in cybersecurity careers.
Gen continues its support for the Women4Cyber Foundation, not only financially through its second annual contribution of $155,000 USD, but also through collaborations. These include access to mentorship by Gen employees, product donation for the Women4Cyber community, and ongoing guidance on our new programs. The launch and maintenance of our new Job Board is powered by Gen, and the continued updates of our Academy pages and outreach activities. Gen is also supporting our first conference, coming in September.
We look forward to our ongoing work together, which will further strengthen Women4Cyber Foundation’s ability to foster an inclusive and diverse cybersecurity workforce, and which reflects Gen’s long-term vision of driving positive change in the industry and empowering women to thrive in cybersecurity careers.
Together, Women4Cyber Foundation and Gen are breaking down barriers and fostering an environment where women’s significant contributions bring change to the cybersecurity field, ultimately shaping a stronger, safer digital world for all.
